Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends the benefits of football scholarship and volunteering for the community. First of all Selmon was raised with Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on a farm near Eufala in Oklahoma as the eldest of the nine children they had. Two football. He is among the three brothers that participated in the football team of Oklahoma. Three brothers were All-America. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for the entire nation. During his three years as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national championships. A third scholarship saw him named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work during his college years. Following college, he relocated into Tampa and played for nine years with Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro three times. He then began his professional career. By 1988, he became an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the 10 most notable young people in America. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs in the time he played football at college. He was a captain in 1975. led the group. In 1993, he became the athletic director's assistant at University of South Florida. He has been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
