Despacito, a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It became the number streamed song at the time within six month. The single a mix of reggaeton and pop music has not just brought attention to reggaeton but it also brought attention towards Latin music generally. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs from 2016 as opposed to two in 2015. The Despacito album reached its peak success in 2017 19 songs mostly made in Spanish reached at the very top of 100. This number rose to 41 by 2020. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix Despacito (2017), a number of bilingual remixes Despacito (2017) famous musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna and Maluma for Medellin (2019). By 2020 a few reggaeton stars were complaining about its inclination towards mainstream but a new generation namely Rauw Alejandro, sought to ensure that reggaeton was evolving. It was often associated with electronic dance and other forms.
